What’s the ideal point system?

We love the weekly tournament!  And all the great people that compete every week to achieve Top Dog status.  After gathering a lot of feedback, we now want to make it better.  Here’s the idea, let us know what you think.

Summary:

  • Remove points for: Likes and Shares
  • Add points for: REshare ME

Here is the full description:

  • ONE POINT FOR DARES
    • Each time you send a dare
    • To reward participation
  • ONE POINT FOR CLONES
    • Each time one of your original dares is cloned
    • To reward creativity and new dare ideas
  • ONE POINT FOR WINS
    • Each time you win a dare
    • To reward follow through
  • ONE POINT FOR REshare ME (per channel)
    • Each time someone REshares one of your proofs
    • To reward great videos that people want to share
  • ONE POINT FOR I-REshare (per channel)
    • Each time you REshare a proof to social media
    • To reward sharing of great videos outside the app

When we first added the “likes” to the tournament, out intent was for the best videos to be rewarded.  But instead we created a system in which people are careful about giving likes and rewarded for daring other users to give them likes. Similarly, we added “sharing” with the goal of increasing the number of great videos in the feed, but that resulted in a wave of videos making it hard to find the really good ones.

By removing the “likes” and “shares” we hope to increase the quality of videos in the feed while making the tournament fair for everyone.

This is still under consideration, please reply and let us know what you think.

Also, we clearly need help naming things.  “REshare ME” and “I-REshare”?? Seriously?  That’s the best we came up with!
